چکیده

On the basis of in situ MAS NMR technique under flow conditions,1-4 the combined in situ MAS NMR-UV/Vis spectroscopy5 has recently been developed to obtain complimentary information on solid catalysts and, therefore, to better elucidate the mechanism involved in heterogeneous catalysis. While NMR spectroscopy allows the identification of species on the working catalyst in more detail, UV/Vis spectroscopy offers the high sensitivity for detecting the formation of aromatic compounds and unsaturated carbenium ions. In this contribution, the first solid-state 13C MAS NMR evidence is presented for the existence of surface ethoxy species on acidic zeolites. Moreover, the further decomposition of these surface ethoxy species to hydrocarbons and carbenium cations was studied by the combined in situ MAS NMR-UV/Vis spectroscopy at elevated reaction temperatures.

Bimetallic Complexes in Zeolites: Reactivity of Tetracarbonyl(trimethylstanny1)cobalt in Acidic Zeolite Y

Stabilization techniques for low-valent organometallic species in acidic forms of large-pore zeolite Y are reported. The intrazeolite surface chemistry and thermal stability of MesSnCo(CO)4 in HY zeolites (I&NaloA155Si1370384 and H16Na39A155Sil370384) were studied with X-ray absorption spectroscopy (Sn, Co edge EXAFS) and in-sifu FTIR/TPD-MS techniques. The acidic zeolite Y host offers a chemic...

Methanol conversion to hydrocarbons over zeolite catalysts: comments on the reaction mechanism for the formation of the first carbon–carbon bond

The reaction mechanism for the conversion of methanol to hydrocarbons using zeolite catalysts is discussed. In particular, the mechanism of the formation of the initial carbon–carbon bond is considered in terms of the reaction of a surface ylide intermediate with adsorbed methanol. It is suggested that the formation of the initial carbon–carbon bond involves the interaction of the surface-bound...

Role of Lewis acid sites of ZSM-5 zeolite on gaseous ozone abatement

In this work, chemical interactions between ozone and zeolite surface active sites are studied in order to propose a process for gaseous ozone removal. Synthetic ZSM-5 zeolites with three different Si/Al2 ratios and similar specific surface areas and microporous volumes were used in this study. Zeolite samples were characterised using Fourier Transform InfraRed spectroscopy (FTIR) and pyridine ...

Evidence for an initiation of the methanol-to-olefin process by reactive surface methoxy groups on acidic zeolite catalysts.

Recent progress reveals that, in the methanol-to-olefin (MTO) process on acidic zeolites, the conversion of an equilibrium mixture of methanol and DME is dominated by a "hydrocarbon pool" mechanism. However, the initial C-C bond formation, that is, the chemistry during the kinetic "induction period" leading to the reactive hydrocarbon pool, still remains unclear. With the application of a stopp...

Catalytic Decomposition of H2O2 on MnFe2O4 Nanocomposites Synthesized by Various Methods in the Presence of Silicate and Zeolite Supports

In this research iron manganese oxide nanocomposites were prepared by co-precipitation, sol-gel and mechanochemical methods by using iron (III) nitrate, iron (II) sulfate and manganese (II) nitrate as starting materials. These nanocomposites were prepared in the presence of various catalyst beds. The polyvinyl pyrrolidon (PVP) was used as a capping agent to control the agglomeration of the nano...
